The videos below are from talk I gave at PyData Seattle 2017 about a project that I worked on with two collaborators in Data for Democracy. The project inolved using natural language processing and machine learning to detect instances of internal displacement due to disasters and conflict from a corpus of news articles. The project was the winning entry to a competition run by the Internal Displacement Monitoring Center, as a potential solution to support their ongoing monitoring efforts.
